My work explores the relationship between the natural world and algorithmic systems. With influences as diverse as Sun Ra and Rothko, new works are created from both simple and complex structures.
Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the ability to record information and to play it back in the future. What starts out as a sporadic event soon takes on a life of its own, leaving only a trace of what has happened and the unlikelihood of a piece living in the future.
As new forms become transformed through impermanence and repetitive practice, the viewer is left with a transference of the past to the edges of the future.
